SDIO Shows Windows ...

We had a major storm through here recently and we suffered damage to the house roof and ceilings. I just received the quote to repair. I’m hoping that a small fraction of the 80,000 odd people that download SDIO and/or Desktop Info every month won’t mind chipping in a few dollars to help out. SDIO seems to have incorrectly detected my windows version.

Right click on the system information box and set it to 11 and see what happens.

So I guess it was a PEBKAC error after all.

After I selected the correct Windows version, it now reflects correctly. LOL

@adamh just keep in mind, that on PCs I use SDIO on, if Windows 11 is selected in the GUI, no drivers will be detected but it works normally if Windows 10 is chosen.

@warp10

We have also noticed this issue with some PCs we have tested. Utilizing the windows 10 drivers works just as well for windows 11 machines.

If the whole point of this app is getting the latest drivers, doesn't using the Windows 10 drivers for a Windows 11 installation kind of miss the point?

No, not really. From the driver point of view, Windows 10 and Windows 11 are the same. I haven't yet worked out why it finds nothing when set to Windows 11. Maybe because there are no drivers specifically targeted to Windows 11. Probably the answer is to return all Windows 10/11 drivers when set to Windows 11? This is getting in to the tricky undocumented C++ code that I have yet to come to grips with.

@glenn with the new software version 1.17.1 I updated to today, it has detected new updates for 'Realtek Audio Effects Component' and I am offered two options, the top option is 12.0.6000.1905 (10/07/2025) 10x64, the tree option under it is 13.0.6000.1905 (10/07/2025) 11x64. Am I better off sticking to the 10x64 driver, or should I be ok trying the 11x64 driver, on Windows 10 IoT LTSC? Or are they potentially exactly the same, just specified for each OS?

@lastninja if it's targeted to win11 it doesn't seem like a good plan to install it on win10. win11  drivers take advantage of additional features added to win11 and may barf if installed on win10.

Having said that, you can confirm the driver's compatibility by analysing the hover hint. The upper circled data indicates the security signature compatibility, the lower circled data indicates the windows version to which the manufacturer has targeted the driver. In this example it shows 10.0...16299 which is win10 v1709. It may show many versions ...
