We had a major storm through here recently and we suffered damage to the house roof and ceilings. I just received the quote to repair. I’m hoping that a small fraction of the 80,000 odd people that download SDIO and/or Desktop Info every month won’t mind chipping in a few dollars to help out. Click on the big blue button at the bottom of the page to help us keep a roof over our heads, literally!

I do format/update a lot of systems almost everyday.
I have noticed that ELAN SMBus Driver is offered for almost all hardware out there (even if there is a SMBus driver already installed). Why is this? Any advantages using this ELAN SMBus driver?
must be newer/better than the one Windows installs.
Advantages? Seems unlikely but if you try it, I'd be interested to know the outcome.
Good day and thank you for your reply.
I have installed it on PCs with older version (like my Intel X99 chipset PC at home). I have also installed it for PCs with newer chipsets where this ELAN driver was older (but a better match according to SDIO). Unfortunately I haven't noticed any difference at all. Maybe ELAN is more stable. What a mystery.
