I2C HID ERROR - PLEASE HELP!
Hi everyone, been struggling with the (somewhat) common issue with the I2C HID driver error 10, causing my laptop trackpad to stop working.
Been battling this on and off for 6 months, previously fixed with uninstalling driver and rebooting. This worked a couple of times. Then installed Snappy Driver about 4-5 months ago and it fixed it for a long time. Fast forward to this week and sadly the issue has popped back up, tried booting up Snappy but it wasn't detecting the issue. Thought this was no big issue, updated the application, redownloaded all possible relevant driver packs but sadly no fix this time.
Snappy is now recognizing the issue as shown in the images, but apparently in the latest driver packs the I2C HID relevant drivers are no longer available/supported in the driver packs? Does anyone please have a solution, my Lenovo cost £1,000 ($1300) and I simply cannot justify the price of a new laptop, nor should I have to!
I have a USB wireless mouse which is okay, but I'm typically on the go with my laptop and it completely defeats the purpose of this machine
Really appreciate anyone who could help, possibly if I could add an I2C HID driver manually to Snappy or if someone has an older driver pack download available?
Thank you
Here's a couple of ideas.
Go into Device Manager and uninstall that device, reboot. I would expect Windows to reinstall it with a Microsoft provided driver.
It's listed in the driver packs index thus:
ACPI\PNP0C50,DP_Touchpad_Synaptics_26064,Synaptics\FORCED\Lenovo_nb\10x64\19.3.10.31\SynHidI2C.inf
There's no information so I don't know why it's not finding it. Anyway, grab that driver pack. If SDIO doesn't see it then open it manually, navigate to the above path and extract all files in that directory. Install via right click on the SynHidI2C.inf file.
@glenn Hi Glenn, thank you for getting back to me so soon, I really appreciate it
Sadly the above fix still hasn't resolved the issue. Uninstalling and rebooting the laptop worked for a couple of weeks when the issue initially started but stopped working after a couple of weeks.
SDIO did fix the issue for 4-5 months and everything was fine, it's now broken again and sadly nothing is working.
I've downloaded all of the touchpad related driver packs, the red alert for I2C HID device does disappear, but it doesn't show any drivers to install. Tried the manual route but sadly no luck
Think I'm just very close to giving up on this issue entirely to be honest, really can't afford the cost of a new laptop but I'm absolutely at a loss
@glenn Yeah no problem I've attached it to this reply, honestly no worries if you can't find the solution, just thought SDIO was worth another try from the previous fix
I've installed and used SDIO ver 1.18 again as I think I used this version for the original fix
@glenn Hi Glenn, sorry to hound you with messages. I tried a fresh install of Windows, sadly I2C is still broken but as I was uninstalling the initial bloatware it turns out my touchpad is Elan not Synaptics, is there any driver you would recommend as a manual install for the Elans touchpad?
Thank you again
@lukeemerson I don't see that device anywhere in the machine's device list. You seem to be showing two different things. plus you're using an old version of SDIO.
