    Hi Glenn,
    I’m running Windows 8.1 and Windows Updates are downloaded automatically. To find out if there are any to install I press Charms, Setting, Power.
    Is there any way to get DTI to display this via a WMI or REGISRTY call?

    we can get a list of available Windows updates like this:

    WMI=active:2,interval:60,text:Updates,namespace:root\cimv2,query:win32_quickfixengineering,display:%HotfixId%

    there’s no way to get a count at the moment. I might add that to the to-do list.

    Alternatively, we could try for a single message using conditional visibility:

    WMI=active:2,interval:60,text:Updates,namespace:root\cimv2,query:win32_quickfixengineering,display:%HotfixId%,set:updates,hidden:1
    IF=active:2,interval:60,value1:%updates%,value2:<n/a>,comparator:ne
    TEXT=active:2,interval:60,text:Updates,display:Updates Available

    Hi Glenn,
    I modified your script to test if InstalledOn field is blank but I don’ have any pending updates to test it. I’ll let you know what happens.

    I output your script to a csv file. It listed 315 updates, each record having 11 fields.
    However the first line (the Header record) had 3466 fields! (315 x 11 +1 ).
    When I first tried to put this file into OpenOffice it complained about too many fields.
    Regards,
    MM

      seems to be duplicating the header records. i’ll raise a bug report.

    The WMI query didn’t work as I hoped. Back to the drawing board!
    Thanks for fixing the duplicated header records.
