        Currently SDIO has package version 1904 and SDi is already at 19112. I wish to know why and if it is possible to get SDIO to get newer packages sooner (and if it is a good idea).

          You can switch between the SDIO updates and the driver pack updates from the system menu. Check the manual for details.

              is there a way to make SDIO remember what source I choose, even after a rebot ?

                It will always check the SDIO updates first then if there is nothing it will check the driver pack updates.
