A 5TB Seagate Backup Plus external USB HDD (P/N: 1K9AYH-500) attached via USB 3.0 and mounted in Windows 10 (Pro 64-bit Release 1809 Version 10.0.17763.0) as B: is not recognized by FixedDisk and DiskIO.

If the drive letter is changed to D: or higher, the drive is recognized and shows in Desktop Info.

Desktop Info appears to be excluding drive letters A: and B: from FixedDisk/DiskIO checks.

I use this external drive as a backup drive, thus, the choice of B: for the drive letter. I think at this point in time it is extremely unlikely that any floppy drives are still attached to modern Windows computers as A: and B:. Could we get the functionality of FixedDisk/DiskIO in Desktop Info to recognize these extra drive letters?

I agree. That situation is a hangover from when I started Desktop Info 14 years ago. I’ll remove that restriction in the next release.

Same fo me here with drive letter A: used as an internal drive.
Though this is kind of a hiding feature… 😉

FIXEDDISK already has a filter option so you can control which drives are displayed.

Yes, Glenn, you’re right of course but it’s an inclusive filter, not an exclusive one.

i’m adding an option called “include-all” which will enable a: and b:. This way if you do nothing it will continue to work as it always has. There are still computers out there with floppy drives.

      Fine solution!

Btw, your profile pic most probably means “peace, love and happiness”, right?!
      Like that, too. 🙂

when i get to the new LOGICALDRIVES item, it will have both include and exclude filters so you can come at it from either “just these ones” or “everything except these ones”
