    Hello,

    I’ve been trying to find a way to deal with different screen resolutions like if someone has a laptop then plugs it into a docking station so that you get more screen with like the resolution 1920×1200 instead of 1366×768(laptop screen).

    Desktop info will be fitted togheter with the background image so is it any known way you know of dealing with this?
    Like having percentage of the screen (left/right config) was in my mind but a login-script may solve this with getting the current resolution and then setting the .ini-file based on an certain percentage of the current resolution.

    Thanks in advance for advice!

    What is it, exactly, you are trying to achieve?

    Basically, I want to have desktopinfo in the same location no matter which resolution you have.

      like an absolute position on the screen: PositionX=100 PositionY=300 will always be placed in exactly that position on the screen regardless of the current screen size, monitors etc ??

      You mentioned a certain percentage of the screen:
      Top=10%
      Left=5%

      would position it 10% down from the top and 5% across from the left.

        Hi again,

        Just tried to set Top=50% and Left=50% just to see any difference but nothing seems to happen, it just puts Deskoptinfo like it wouldn’t be any vaules set.

        Did I misunderstood you with that and this function isn’t available yet?

        Thanks in advance!

          Umm no. We were discussing the best way to achieve this. Before we can proceed you should expand on your idea of “I want to have desktopinfo in the same location no matter which resolution you have.”

    well we already have fixed positions using the top, bottom, left, right, centerv and centerh options. A combination of those will give you what that bginfo screen does. Perhaps bginfo considers the whole desktop client area including all monitors whereas DesktopInfo is based on the primary monitor, i don’t know.

      Hi again!

      Just implemented DesktopInfo and I found a way to deal with multiple resolutions on the monitors!

      It’s not the best practice solution but I thought that I would share it with you at least so it might become clear what I was trying to achieve! 🙂

      So this is the Powershell-script that is triggered with a Scheduled Task whenever an user login or unlock the workstation.

      So I populated top, left, right and font-size for different resolutions and based on what the user had on the primary screen, it will pick it! 🙂

      Thanks for a great program!

        Nice. My understanding is you figure out the resolution of the primary monitor and adjust the DTI position to your idea of the perfect position for that resolution. You have a series of preset positions for each resolution.

        I notice you tend to be about 20% down from the top and 1% or 2% in from the right.

    Hi Glenn,

    Unfortunately I have the same problem and the use of a Powershell script is not a option for me :-/

    It would be very nice to introduce a feature like bginfo like “locate on screen” with several options as currently available.

    In my case, for example, I urgently need an option to position Desktop Info, regardless of the screen resolution, always at the bottom right of the screen.

    Right now, I’m using pixels to solve the positioning on the screen, but once the screen resolution changes, DesktopInfo shifts completely :-/

    i.e.
    top=565
    right=50
    width=400

    Or is this option already possible with the current version 1.11.0?

    Thanks in advance!

      replace top=565 with bottom=50 or whatever
      the issue of changing resolutions is fixed in the next release.
