Win11 25H2 (all the latest patches as of today) user here.
During the course of troubleshooting this std::bad_cast error, I discovered something strange which I believe to be the root cause of this error, but I have yet to resolve it (although I did just start troubleshooting).
Starting with this post (which apparently was started because an original one had closed) - folks there were reporting making some IPv6 changes to their individual configurations which seemed to resolve it. None of those worked for me, but then stepping back and looking at IPv6 realized that unless I had IPv6 enabled on my adapter, the LAN, and the WAN - the application reported not being able to connect to the internet and here's the strange part - the glenn.delahoy.com site no longer resolved in my browsers.
If any of the 3 components have IPv6 disabled, no matter what browser I use - site comes up as ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT (and of course the application reports no connectivity to the Internet).
My network isn't complicated here. No VPN running or complex DNS. I see my DNS server log entries to both 68.162.80.113 and 2600:4040:756d:4300::2000 (when IPv6 is running), and even with IPv6 off - I can still ping the hostname via the IPv4 address.
I'm still working through all the different possible configuration changes to see what IPv6 adjustment will enable the application to work, but until then - any other suggestions are more than welcome.
Thanks.
