We had a major storm through here recently and we suffered damage to the house roof and ceilings. I just received the quote to repair. I’m hoping that a small fraction of the 80,000 odd people that download SDIO and/or Desktop Info every month won’t mind chipping in a few dollars to help out. Click on the big blue button at the bottom of the page to help us keep a roof over our heads, literally!

I just updated to SDIO 812 and now I have 32 of the "Intel (R) XTU Extension Device" (one for each thread on my processor (i9-13900K) which says "Updated driver available which is also more optimized".  I have installed these multiple times and rebooted, and they still appear.  OS is W11 Pro 24H2.

What to do?

Same here, suddenly appeared with the 812 update on all my Intel systems. W10 22H2 and W11 23H2, i9-11900K, i7-7700K and even a Xeon E5-2697!

Hi,

Same issue here with W10 22H2 Intel I9-9980HK, and the Intel Dynamic Tuning Technologie Updater Component, the download takes place, followed by the creation of a restore point, and installation, which is successful, but after checking the application this update is still available!?

Me as well. Twenty-four entries for Intel'sExtreme Tuning Utility extension devices and components, along with a handful of really strange driver recommendations. For example, one for Xenon E3 5th/6th Gen Processor (I have a Gen 10 Core i7-10750H), and sound drivers that are three years older and just break sound outright.

@glenn Does this shot of the mouseover help at all?
I didn't install the suggested XTU driver as it's clearly not correct, didn't want to risk it!

@canberra The log seems to indicate the installation is failing.  If I read it correctly it's giving an ERROR_INVALID_FUNCTION result.  I don't know why this is. I don't plan on dissecting  the driver to figure it out.    My advice is to remove that driver pack and it's index from your collection.

For some reason XTU Extreme Tuning Utility was installed on my system.  It didn't show up in Apps to uninstall it, so I went to Intel, downloaded/installed it, then ran Revo Uninstaller (free) to remove it.

(From Intel) "Delete any folder named Intel® XTU from these locations: C:\Program Files\Intel and C:\ProgramData\Intel. Note that the ProgramData folder may be hidden"

I also ran this admin CMD script to get rid of any left over drivers:

For /f %P in ('dism /online /get-drivers /format:table^|Findstr xtu') do pnputil.exe /d %P /u /f

I then went to the folder where I had unzipped SDIO_1.15.0.812.zip, mass deleted everything there but that file, then re-unzipped it, started it, downloaded indexes, did its updates, and voila!

No more XTU Extension Device!

HTH

@spleeg Exactly what I got.  No use trying, it would've failed anyway.

@glenn   I removed both the pack and the index, and I still have the 32 entries.

You might find two indexes (indicies?):

DP_yEXP_Sounds_Realtek_25010.bin

_P_yEXP_Sounds_Realtek_25010.bin

edit: wrong ones, should be these ones:

DP_yEXP_Extensions_25010.bin

_P_yEXP_Extensions_25010.bin

_P_yEXP_Extensions_25010.bin

@canberra If you've removed the 2 indexes and the driver pack then the next time you start SDIO, it won't know about that driver pack. Just don't redownload the indexes from the torrent again.

@glenn   I have not downloaded again, but those 32 items are still displayed.
